Grade 2H Heavy Hex Nut – ASTM A194
The ASTM A194 grade 2H heavy hex nut is made from heat-treated carbon steel. Its larger width and height compared with a standard hex nut suit demanding industrial connections. It is commonly paired with ASTM A193 grade B7 bolts and studs.

The grade 2H heavy hex nut secures bolts and studs in removable equipment and piping joints. Its geometry provides a larger bearing surface and additional wrenching area.
Technical features
ASTM A194 grade 2H uses quenched and tempered carbon steel. Acceptance considers proof load and hardness for the size and supply condition. Proof load evaluates thread capacity without failure; it is not a bolt’s tensile strength. Inch dimensions follow ASME B18.2.2.
Applications and assembly
It is used with ASTM A193 grade B7 threaded fasteners, including heavy hex bolts. Diameter, thread pitch and supply class must match the joint specification; matching materials alone does not establish compatibility.
