Hex Lag Screw
A hex lag screw attaches fittings and brackets to timber using a coarse thread and wrench-driven head. It installs without a nut on the opposite side and is used in joinery, assembly and maintenance.

The lag screw penetrates the timber and clamps the fitting beneath its head. Its coarse thread provides retention, while the hexagonal head allows tightening with a wrench.
Technical features
DIN 571 is a dimensional reference for hexagon wood screws. ASME B18.2.1 covers inch-series lag screws. Zinc-plated or galvanized steel may be specified for the exposure.
Applications and assembly
Used in brackets, timber joints and fittings. Length must provide sufficient penetration after passing through the attached component. Pilot-hole size is selected for the screw and timber.
