Steel Wire Rope
Steel wire rope combines wires and strands around a core to transmit tensile forces. It is used in lifting, pulling and restraint equipment, with construction and capacity selected for the operation.

Steel wire rope combines tensile strength with flexibility. Performance on sheaves, drums and terminations depends on strand construction and core type.
Technical features
Selection data include diameter, construction, strength grade, fibre or steel core, length and lay direction. ISO 2408 is a technical reference for steel wire rope where specified for the supply.
Applications and assembly
Lifting requires the allowable working load of the complete assembly, including terminations and accessories. Rope breaking force is not its working load. Inspections must identify broken wires, corrosion and deformation.
