Drywall screws are designed for gypsum-board partitions and ceilings. The head spreads contact against the board, and the point type is selected for the supporting frame.
Technical features
ASTM C1002 is a reference for sharp-point screws used in these systems. ASTM C954 covers drill-point screws for specified steel framing thicknesses. Fine or coarse thread, length and coating depend on the application.
Applications and assembly
The head should seat without tearing the board’s paper facing. Length is selected for the number of board layers and required penetration into the support.
