Grade B7 Hex Bolt – ASTM A193
The ASTM A193 grade B7 hex bolt is made from quenched and tempered chromium-molybdenum alloy steel. Its head accepts a wrench or socket for tightening. It is paired with ASTM A194 grade 2H nuts according to assembly class and service requirements.

The grade B7 hex bolt combines a six-sided head with ASTM A193 material properties. It is used in removable connections for equipment, flanges and industrial components.
Technical features
ASTM A193 B7 is quenched and tempered alloy steel. Up to 2½-inch diameter, minimum tensile and yield strengths are 125 and 105 ksi; above 2½ through 4 inches, they are 115 and 95 ksi. Threads follow ASME B1.1. These test values are not allowable stresses at operating temperature.
Applications and assembly
Used in flanges, valves and process equipment requiring mechanical strength at elevated service temperatures. The assembly commonly includes an ASTM A194 grade 2H nut. Grip length and supply class must suit the connection design.
