Beveled Washer – ASTM F436
The ASTM F436 beveled washer has a wedge-shaped section that compensates for sloping beam and channel flanges. It provides a suitable bearing surface for the bolt head or nut in steel connections.

A beveled washer sits against an inclined surface to provide a bearing face perpendicular to the bolt axis. It is particularly useful on steel sections with tapered flanges.
Technical features
ASTM F436/F436M covers hardened steel washers. Plain-finish hardness is 38–45 HRC; hot-dip galvanized hardness is 26–45 HRC. HRC denotes the Rockwell C scale. Diameter and type must match the bolt. Hardness distinguishes these washers from ordinary unhardened washers.
Applications and assembly
Used in beam, channel and steel support connections. It can form part of A325 or A490 structural bolting assemblies. Finish and installation orientation are selected for the specified assembly.
