Heavy Hex Nut 2H – ASTM A194

The nut is a piece with a central hole that features an internal thread to fit onto a bolt, either fixed or sliding, in order to fasten and secure detachable joints. In some cases, a washer is incorporated to reinforce the assembly.

The thread of the nut and the bolt must have the same geometric characteristics to achieve a proper fit. Generally, nuts are tightened with wrenches or torque wrenches, adjusted to the dimensions across their flats.
