Stainless Steel Heavy Hex Nut Grade 8 – ASTM A194
The ASTM A194 grade 8 stainless steel heavy hex nut is made from type 304 austenitic stainless steel. Its larger width and height compared with a standard hex nut suit demanding industrial connections. It is commonly paired with ASTM A193 grade B8 bolts and studs.

The grade 8 heavy hex nut secures bolts and studs in removable equipment and piping joints. Its geometry provides a larger bearing surface and additional wrenching area.
Technical features
ASTM A194 grade 8 identifies type 304 stainless steel. Solution-treated and strain-hardened conditions have different properties and must be specified with size. Nut acceptance uses proof load and hardness where applicable, rather than assigning it the tensile strength of a B8 bolt. Inch dimensions follow ASME B18.2.2.
Applications and assembly
It is used with ASTM A193 grade B8 threaded fasteners, including heavy hex bolts. Diameter, thread pitch and supply class must match the joint specification; matching materials alone does not establish compatibility.
